Block C Online Tests

There are many tests on the internet to measure your health, intelligence, personality, confidence, skills, and fincancial plans. Some are free, some or not. Some are useful, some are not. Your goal is to find (and take) two free, useful, online tests about anything appropriate to Planning 10.

You may have to look through a few test sites before you find what you want (e.g. http://www.testcafe.com has some good and bad ones). Explore with a good search before you commit to a test.

You will decide if the test/results are private & free (e.g. don't require a login or a fee), and if the information you get is useful or not (from the perspective of a Planning 10 student). To show your work, respond to this blog (one comment per student) by saying

1. the web addresses and titles of two free/useful online tests
2. what you thought of your results -- were they accurate? meaningful?
3. what value would you place on the tests?, would you recommend it to others?
4. put your name in your comment (e.g. Marcy B.) so I can give you some marks

New Blog for Planning 10

We'll use this address for Planning 10 posts and comments now, but you can still see your old ones and get new info at thielmann.blogspot -- each blog has its purpose! Your next blog task involves making sure you have three posts on your own blog:

1. A summary of your skills presentation - see the related post at thielmann.blogspot.com if you are still confused as to what to write (100-250 words should be adequate; 10 marks)
2. A description of what you have planned for your Health Assignment. You should include one fo your best research questions so that your classmates have a chance tooffer their opinions on your blog (50-150 words should be adequate; 10 marks)
3. A summary of what you have learned since your last "portfolio presentation" (the four-minute speech you gave to the class). You should include your thoughts on the Drugs, Tobacco, and Alcohol videos, and a summary of what you learned in the Oct. 18 STD presentation by the health nurse (200 or more words will proabaly be required; 20 marks).

The due date for all three posts is Monday, Oct. 25th

Blogging Tips

It's a good idea to start at blogger.com so you can sign in (to edit your blog instead of just lokking at blogs). Remember... you can change your settings, template, etc. once you've logged in as a "blogger" -- make sure your screen name lets us know who you are, but don't give out so much info that the bad guys can get you. If I can figure out who's posting a comment, you can't get marks for your work!

For example Marcy Brown could have mbrown for a login (only she knows this) and MarcyB for a screen name, but she shouldn't give her address or last name in her profile. You can also post audio clips and pictures. Basically, you make a link in your profile to a picture somewere on the web (there are some links for free web hosting when you edit your profile). To put a picture on a posting, you paste in the following code (if you know the web location of the picture): < img src="http://www.example.com/mypicture.jpg"> (except don't leave a space before img -- I had to so you could see it!)

Reminder -- to log in and work on your blog, click the blogger sign at the top left of any blog or go to blogger.com. Once you're signed in, use the tabs (posting, setteings, template...) to change your blog. Use the 'dashboard" to see all your blogs. Please use appropriate langauge in your "blogging." If you want to be gross, use a different blog that you don't share with your class!
